Hours After Yobe Government Went Spiritual, Police Arrest Suspect Who Specialises In Vandalization Of Electricity Towers

Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Saminu Garba, who specialised in vandalizing electricity power cables in Damaturu and its environs.

This comes hours after the state government launched a spiritual warfare against insurgents who d£§troy electricity towers connecting the state and Borno to the national grid.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement issued on Friday, May 17, said that the arrest followed numinous reports of vandalization of electricity power distribution cables and other important accessories received by the command from different communities.

“On May 16, at about 1300hrs, personnel of C Divisional Police Headquarters, intercepted one intercepted One Saminu Garba, 23, of Maiduguri, Borno State.

The suspect was arrested among two other syndicate members who evaded arrest and fled. The command has begun a swift chase to arrest them soon”, DSP Abdulkarim said.

According to him the arrested suspect confessed to having vandalized an electricity transformer situated at the state low-cost via Gujba Road, Damaturu.
