Jos Killings Could Be Politically Motivated — Former Gov. Jang

Former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, has voiced deep concern over the renewed wave of violence in the state, following attacks that have claimed more than 30 lives.

Speaking during an interactive session with President Bola Tinubu in Jos on Thursday, Jang reflected on the long-standing nature of the crisis, noting that successive administrations have grappled with the same challenge.
“Your Excellency, these killings have persisted for many years,” he said. “I experienced it during my tenure, as did Joshua Dariye and Simon Lalong. It has become a painful pattern for our state.”

Jang suggested that the recent escalation in violence may not be unconnected to political interests, warning that some actors could be attempting to exploit the unrest to influence future elections.

“Mr President, I can say with confidence that there are individuals who may wish to use these killings to destabilise the electoral process,” he added. “However, we will not allow such efforts to succeed.”

His remarks underscore growing anxiety among residents and leaders in Plateau State, where communities continue to mourn the loss of lives and grapple with recurring insecurity.
