Kano House Of Assembly Passes Bill To Create Second-Class Emirates

The Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill into law for the establishment of 2nd class Emirates in the state.

It was learnt that the first reading of the proposed law commenced during the plenary session on Monday.

The passage of the law was announced in an X post shared by the State Governor’s Media Centre.

The post reads, “Kano State House of Assembly has passed a bill into law for the creation of 2nd class Emirates: Rano Emirate: Rano- Bunkure, Kibiya, Karaye Emirate: Karaye- Rogo and Gaya Emirate: Gaya- Ajingi, Albas.”

After the second and third reading of the bill, the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Butubutu, moved for its adoption and passage during its plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Falgore.

The new second-class emirates to be created include Rano Emirate: Rano-Bunkure, Kibiya; Karaye Emirate: Karaye-Rogo; Gaya Emirate: Gaya-Ajingi, Albasu.

It should be recalled that the Kano State Government had been embroiled in an Emirship tussle for two years with Emir Muhammad Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero contesting the position.
